Life began around a half-century ago in the town of Brownhills in the West Midlands. I now live in Burntwood, Staffordshire, a stone’s throw away from the cathedral city of Lichfield. Although there have been some “downers” along the way, the road of life has been a varied and interesting one providing some good times, good friends, a fair share of adventures with, hopefully, a few more to come. After graduating from the University Of Life, I decided to make good my education and graduate from a proper University in 1994 as a mature student with a BSc Hons degree in “Physics with Medical Physics”. I have pursued a career in Information Technology since and I’m currently the IT / Quality Systems Manager for a medium-sized construction company based just outside Birmingham.
A few years ago, a desperate desire to jump off that relentless treadmill we call the rat race and create a better life/work balance saw me giving up full-time work in favour of a part-time arrangement at the construction company. I now have some quality time to devote to my passions in life which include all sorts of outdoor activities, adventure travel, photography, music and, of course, being a computer geek, technology.
Outdoor activities, in the main, include hillwalking, mountain biking and kayaking. I’ve been very fortunate to have travelled to some amazing places on this planet of ours and this provides the opportunity to indulge in one of my other hobbies, photography. I have a Flickr and SmugMug account where most of my photos are published. I play drums in a band and enjoy playing the guitar.
Creating and maintaining a personal website can seem like a pretty naff, pretentious thing to do but it allows me to share my life and experiences with family, friends and anyone else in this world who find themselves browsing this website. If you are taking a look around, I hope you find something of interest
Thanks for dropping by.
